ACA Foundation Awards Scholarship to Ole Miss Student, Alexandra Gochenauer

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL, March 2, 2018: The Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence is awarded by the American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation to a student with a demonstrated interest in independent pharmacy, who shows leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, and a high level of academic success.

We are pleased to present this award to Alexandria Gochenauer, a student at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. Alex is a student member of both the American College of Apothecaries and the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists.  Her pharmacy practice goal is to own a highly innovative independent pharmacy that focuses on veterinary compounding.

While at Ole Miss, Alex was involved in creating the first student chapter of the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists (ACVP) and served as its Secretary. She also served as the Vice President for the student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), which received the Most Improved Chapter Award in 2017.

Alex has been recognized for her academic achievement with a Plough Academic Pharmacy Scholarship and NCPA Foundation Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence.  In 2017, Alex was awarded a Travel Grant to attend the ACA/ACVP/IACP Educational Conference and spoke at the 2017 ACVP Veterinary Pharmacy Conference on Cancer Therapeutics for Dogs and Cats.  To further her career goals, Alex has undertaken research projects to examine the need for elective veterinary pharmacy education in schools of pharmacy and will begin a rotation at the ACA National Headquarters in May of this year.

Erin Holmes, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration and Research at Ole Miss, had this to say about Alex: “I cannot say enough about Alex’s extracurricular accomplishments, leadership qualities, and contributions to our School of Pharmacy. I also cannot imagine a student more deserving of receiving the ACA Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence than Alex. Alex is very motivated, has always been a self-starter, has a strong work ethic, and a profound attention to detail.”

Congratulations to Alex Gochenauer on her accomplishments; we are proud to recognize her with the ACA Foundation Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence.
