to Student Pharmacists

George Malmberg Student Scholarship Award Winners Dominique Castaneda & Holly Seyler

Bartlett, TN., October 10, 2023: The American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation announced that student pharmacists Dominique Castaneda from Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Holly Seyler from the University of Washington have been awarded the George Malmberg Student Scholarship for Compounding Excellence.

The George Malmberg Student Scholarship for Compounding Excellence is awarded by the American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation to a student with a demonstrated interest in pharmaceutical compounding and independent pharmacy, who shows leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, and a high level of academic success. The award provides fees and expenses for the recipient to attend an accredited training course at the American College of Apothecaries.

Dominique Castaneda (PharmD Candidate 2025) A student member of the American College of Veterinary Pharmacists (ACVP) and the Latin American Student Pharmacy Organization, Dominique is interested in compounding veterinary medicine, providing animal patients with the care they need, and being a strong resource for veterinarians. She has volunteered at the AtascaZoo Animal Hospital and is currently a Pharmacist Intern at the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

As part of her interest in veterinary pharmacy, Dominique presented on veterinary medicine topics at Journal Club. She also plans to complete a compounding veterinary pharmacy rotation during her fourth year and hopes to have a broad range of experience in veterinary pharmacy as she prepares to begin her career.

Holly Seyler (PharmD Candidate 2025) A student member of the American College of Apothecaries (ACA), Holly focuses on the importance of political advocacy for patient choice and access. Holly willingly advocates for the compounding pharmacy profession and volunteered her time as a teaching assistant for the UW Pharmaceutics Compounding Lab Course in Seattle, WA. Her leadership and commitment have contributed positively to the future of compounding pharmacy.

Holly is currently a Pharmacist Intern at Clark’s Compounding Pharmacy in Bellevue, WA where she continues to distinguish herself as a leader in the pharmacy community and devotes her life to patient-centered healthcare.

The ACA Research and Education Foundation is proud to recognize Dominique Castaneda and Holly Seyler with the ACA Foundation George Malmberg Student Scholarship for Compounding Excellence. Dominique will be attending the Veterinary Compounding Essentials course in October 2023. Holly will be attending the Fundamental Compounding with Pharmacy Law course in November 2023 thanks to our partnership with the American College of Apothecaries.
