SAVANNAH, GA, August 24, 2018: The American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation presented the Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence to Jacob Lomax at the 2018 Fall Pharmacy Conference in Savannah, Georgia. Lomax is a pharmacy student at Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy in Ada, Ohio.

The Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence is awarded by the American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation to a student with a demonstrated interest in independent pharmacy, who shows leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, and a high level of academic success.

While at Ohio Northern, Jacob has served on the Fundraising Committee for the ONU student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and as captain of the ONU 2018 NCPA Business Plan Team. In April 2018, the team competed with its plan for “Comfort Care Pharmacy” and won first place in the Ohio Pharmacists Association state business plan competition.

Jacob was President-Elect of the ONU NCPA Chapter and will lead the chapter as its President this upcoming year. Jacob has also been involved in other pharmacy and campus organizations including Kappa Psi Pharmacy Fraternity, Mortar Board, and Northern Without Borders.

Deirdre L. Myers, Assistant Director of Student Services and Pharmacy Instructor at ONU, had this to say about Jacob: “He is an excellent candidate who shows leadership and entrepreneurial skills…. He takes on leadership roles requiring service and dedication, showing leadership, people management skills, and dependability. My husband, Randy Myers, and I enjoyed getting to know Jake better through our trips to the Annual NCPA Conferences in both New Orleans and Orlando, and many in-depth conversations about independent pharmacy as well as advocacy. Jacob Lomax is a motivated, hardworking pharmacy student who is excited about independent pharmacy and his future in pharmacy.”

The ACA Foundation is proud to recognize Jacob Lomax with the Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence.
