As a pharmacist, what do you need to know about marijuana, cannabidiol and its mixtures?

As front-line healthcare providers, community-based pharmacists play an essential role in alerting and educating the public on how CBD and marijuana usage impacts their health. Two well-known speakers will present the latest information followed by a panel discussion on THC/CBD and its applications. A brief history of cannabis will be presented leading up to the passage of the Farm Bill in 2018. This your chance to learn more about this growing segment that will increasingly impact your patients and practice.

Walk away with:

  • An understanding of key considerations when dealing with this natural product: botany, chemistry, potency, stability, assay results, and labeling
  • A definition of cannabinoids and endocannabinoids, and knowledge of their pharmacology, receptors, kinetics dosage and claims
  • Examples of dosing and current clinical trials of cannabis-related products
  • A checklist of legal issues surrounding the possession and sale of marijuana and cannabidiol for recreational or medical use
  • How to answer the most common questions posed by consumers regarding CBD usage while taking into consideration FDA prohibitions regarding therapeutic claims
  • Understanding of the need to evaluate the potential benefits versus risks of selling CBD products in your pharmacy and DEA regulations

Who should attend:

  • Pharmacists who have patients using medical or recreational marijuana, especially who practice in states with legalized or decriminalized recreational marijuana
  • Pharmacists who have added or are considering adding CBD products to their practice
  • Pharmacists with patients using OTC products containing CBD purchased elsewhere
  • Pharmacists who work in dispensaries
